The trials and tribulations of a lone Springbok in the Kalahari

500 million springbok roamed the arid plains of Southern Africa just under a century ago. Today in the Kalahari the legendary spectacle of the herds is more than matched in fascination by what endures- the springboks' uncanny weather-forecasting abilities in the harsh world of the desert, their defence strategies against predators, their extraordinary 'pronking' gait and the ultimate mystery - that of the solitary territorial male.

This moving tale is centred around one such male called Kwang.

Film-maker Trevor De Kock spent over a year in the Kalahari working closely with his scientific adviser Tim Jackson, following the springbok herds and trying to unravel the story of the solitary male.

This film is narrated by the famous Sir David Attenborough and was produced for BBC TV's award winning 'Wildlife On One' series in association with The National Geographic Society.
